5th Annual Cangelosi Baseball Winter Hitting League

It is no secret that Bo Jackson's Elite Sports Dome was developed to give athletes in the Midwest a place to train year round. With the fall season wrapping up, John Cangelosi and our staff of instructors strive to help hitters develop and understand their hitting approach. Winter ball is the perfect time to develop, understand, and perfect that hitting identity.

Determination and drive play a huge role in our Winter Hitting League. When most people think of baseball, they think of summertime and green grass. November and December in South Chicagoland does not exactly fit that description. That's why we are here.

Focusing on situational hitting, players who take part in our Winter Hitting League also receive speed & agility training, in-cage hitting, and (best of all) on-field competition.

"The great thing about winter ball is that it gives kids a chance to develop situational hitting which is often neglected at most levels" Tyler Thompson, who helps design and instruct all of the camps, said.

With the first session being dedicated to Bo Jackson's Elite Sports Leadership Centers of America programming, we are quite focused on training our players "inside and out." The camp is open to ages 8-18 and runs from October 30-December 20. The cost for the 8 week league is $395 per player.

While it may be frigid outside, Bo Jackson's Elite Sports Dome has warm air and an energetic atmosphere. Most people may not think of winter as "baseball season", but the ones who do, will surely benefit in the long run.

Hope everyone's workouts are going well.

For hitters your workouts should start consisting of more of a velocity workouts. Example: A good exercise is the walk-up drill on the Iron Mike. This focuses on less reaction time which in essence will give you a shorter, quicker, explosive swing to the baseball. It will help you alleviate any longness or hardness in your approach. Hitting a baseball is effortless power which this drill will help you create.

Advise...

All of your hard work over the course of this winter preparing yourself for the upcoming season is approaching quickly. Don't let all of the hard work and what you have learned about your strengths and weaknesses as a player go to waste. It's more important to maintain your workouts over the course of the season. Example: As a hitter you may struggle with certain pitches during a game. Simple concept is to work on that pitch in practice the next day to create confidence it helps offset any doubt with your approach at the plate. As we all know baseball is a mental game this is one key component to making you a successful hitter.

The moral of the story is you need to continue practicing your game throughout the season to maintain confidence. We have our staff on hand all season long to create a routine and practice habits that will help you get to the next level.

Wishing everyone much success,

Coach CangelosiRyguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07640468136732474988noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4996272200293826040.post-55907243691103628122009-02-07T11:10:00.000-08:002009-02-07T12:07:30.469-08:00Hitting With The ProsWe have decided to try out a video post for the blog. They were all very impressed with the energy you guys brought to the camp and most importantly your professionalism that you applied on the field. The coaches loved your willingness to implement what they were teaching. I appreciate your efforts over the past two weekends to make this a very successful camp for you and the future high school kids. We're wishing you all the very best in your quests for continuing your baseball careers. Remember to practice with a purpose; meaning forming a routine and identifying your strengths and weaknesses as a player. Baseball is a game that you have to practice year around. Remember what you have been working hard for all winter. More importantly, make sure you get repetitive exercise during your summer months when you are playing games. This is one way to maximize your ability as a player.

We personally want to thank the parents for letting their kids participate in our third annual College Developmental Camp. We're always looking to get better as an organization, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for all who represented Cangelosi Baseball and wishing everyone much success.

John Cangelosi
Ryguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07640468136732474988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4996272200293826040.post-57139310627214498982009-01-13T11:35:00.001-08:002009-01-13T11:40:07.549-08:00College Development Camp
The 3rd Annual College Development camp is coming up this weekend. Players will attend this weekend (Jan 17-18) and again the following weekend (Jan 24-25). Each of the weekends will have college coaches from all around the country coming in to work with the players. It is a great opportunity to get in front of a lot of colleges at one venue. Registration is still open and will close on Jan. 16th. We would first like to thank the parents for making this trip enjoyable for us. You guys are great fans, parents and friends. You should be so proud of your sons for what they accomplished this weekend. Making it that far in a national tournament takes not only skill and ability, but mental toughness and character. That is a true reflection of good parenting. We also would like to acknowledge you for sacrificing your time and hard earned money by allowing your sons to be a part of our program and giving them every opportunity to take their skills to the next level. So to the parents, thank you, you guys are great. We are happy to have your family be part of our “Cangelosi Family.”

Next, the players, or in the affectionate words of Cangy, Bill and Dave, the “dirtbags”. What can I say, personally, I have developed relationships with most of you over the summer coaching with Bill, and now have gotten to know all of you this weekend. On behalf of the entire Cangelosi Baseball organization, congratulations! You have achieved what no other Midwest team has accomplished in this, or any other Perfect Game World Tournament. Advancing that far was quite an accomplishment for you guys and we are very happy for you. I hope that you never forget the experience in Florida.

As many of you go back to your respective schools, and continue on in the classroom, and then your Junior or senior years of baseball this spring, don’t expect your friends to get all excited when you tell them about your achievements this weekend, they probably won’t get it. It’s something that you just have to be a part of to understand.

Finally, just remember to always carry that certain amount of “dirtbagness” around with you at all times. What I mean by that is never be afraid to get a little dirty, or put in the extra effort no matter if it’s on the field or off. That is what makes you guys great now, and that is what will make you even better in the future.

Thank you for a great experience,

The Cangelosi staff

Ryguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07640468136732474988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4996272200293826040.post-88035219444246853372008-09-05T19:44:00.000-07:002008-09-05T20:22:56.703-07:00Ride Around the DomeRyguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07640468136732474988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4996272200293826040.post-4950292768538749952008-09-05T19:38:00.000-07:002008-09-05T19:43:47.645-07:00This Weekend's Games

The Wrigley Field Classic, Fall Exposure League, and Fall Instructional League games are on as scheduled for this weekend, September 6th and 7th. Let us hear your feedback.Ryguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07640468136732474988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4996272200293826040.post-79799116179529945752008-02-04T19:37:00.001-08:002008-02-04T19:37:15.846-08:00Thank you from Cangelosi Baseball
Parents, Coaches, and Kids:

We wanted to tell you all thanks for participating these past two weekends in the Winter Collegiate Development Camp.

Parents, thank you for giving your sons the opportunity and taking the time to get them out there. We try to remind these guys all the time that it is a privilege to get to play this game, not a right and to make sure they realize how much time, money, and effort you guys put into helping create opportunities for their futures. Please never hesitate to contact us for anything we could ever help you with.

High School coaches, thank you for working so hard for so many of these young men. They all gave a great effort, paid attention, and worked their tails off. It is great to see that so many of these kids come from great high school coaches that are teaching them, not only how to play the game but how to be a student of it. Thank you for allowing them to come to this, we trust that it was a great experience for them. Please let us know how we can better help you guys out.

For the kids, thank you for coming eager to learn and ready to work. As coaches, it is extremely refreshing to get young men that have passion for the game. Guys, remember that every time you put the jersey on and strap it up, it is time to improve yourselves. Every day you are either choosing to get better or choosing to get worse. You guys are tremendous young men and represented yourselves, your families, and your high schools proudly. Have a great high school season!

Thanks to the Illinois Sparks organization for their hard work and help with the logistics and organization. I have thanked many of you personally (Billy, Dave, Don, Wayne, Joe, Jim R.), but you guys are first class all the way.

Thanks Ho-Chunk and Fran for letting us invade for two weekends.

It was a great event for everyone involved. The college coaches were nothing short of outstanding and took time to coach individual kids repeatedly. We look forward to them all coming back next year!

Coach Steele and the Cangelosi Baseball Staff

Ryguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07640468136732474988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4996272200293826040.post-53735754455998419392008-02-04T18:58:00.001-08:002008-02-04T19:10:22.706-08:00Construction In progress

The construction of Cangelosi Baseball's new home has been underway for a few months now in Lockport, Illinois. Unfortunately due to the weather we have been having in the Chicago land area we have encountered some delays. Our construction team is working their very best to try and overcome the difficulties of building during this time of the year.
